Velvet Cap Single Malt Bordeaux Cask is an impressive addition to the Velvet Cap line-up. It is distilled at the Blackwater Distillery, a microdistillery housed in an old hardware store in West Waterford on the banks of the Blackwater River.
This expression was matured solely in Bordeaux red wine casks for a full 5 years, which gives the whiskey its wonderful ruddy gold colour and the delicious scent of freshly baked red currant madeleines.
Nose: Strawberries, Demerara sugar, vanilla and a hint of cinnamon.
Palate: Fresh-baked gingerbread, coffee au lait, dried stone fruit and orange zest.
Finish: Long finish with raspberry-chocolate Wagon Wheels.
