Meanwhile, merlot grapes offer juiciness and acidity and the syrah varietal adds earthiness, depth and a touch of spice. Zinfandel brings a softness that ties all the varietals together. Barrel aged in French oak casks for 18 months after going through stainless steel and malolactic fermentation, this red wine blend fills the palate with soft tannins and a balanced acidity. Store this barrel aged wine at room temperature to preserve its quality, and refrigerate for 30 to 60 minutes before serving with bread and cheese, mushroom dishes or a cheeseburger.
