D&M NOTES:

OVERVIEW: This single barrel bourbon (#27725) which comes from New Riff's high-rye mashbill (30%) was distilled and filled in May 2020. It is a 4-year and 5-month bourbon aged in Kelvin Cooperage Char #4 barrels at Warehouse C coming in at 110.5 proof.

TASTING: This is like fall in a glass, with a nose of pumpkin, baking spice-predominately nutmeg, pear and dried apricot, it follows with a palate of Szechuan pepper, maple, honey, ginger, clove spices, toasted grain like faro and barrel staves.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Just over a decade old, New Riff is still a relatively new distillery yet they have already made a name for themselves in the world of whiskey. It is family-owned and founded by two partners: Ken Lewis, who came to the project after running his family’s liquor stores (Liquor Barn), and Jay Erisman, another retail veteran (certainly an ownership combination that we here at D&M can get behind!). Their goal to make good, affordable whiskey, and to do it all on their own so as to not be beholden to the whims of a large corporation. While they did start by releasing sourced products under the OKI brand, they now only release products 100% made by them under the New Riff label. Today, New Riff produces Bourbon, Rye, the Balboa Rye, a Single Malt and many more special editions.
