Exo Terra Forest Bark, 4qt

Exo Terra Forest Bark is an 100% natural substrate made from Douglas Fir bark. Forest Bark is a suitable substrate for humidity-loving reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates from tropical and forest environments. Its hygroscopic properties regulate the terrarium"s humidity in a natural way by absorbing and slowly releasing moisture. The unique size and shape of the bark particles stimulate natural digging and burrowing behavior, and discourage crickets to hide in the substrate.

Fir products have a bad reputation in the hobby for potentially containing volatile oils which harm reptiles' neurological health. However, the kiln drying process used to produce Exo Terra Forest Bark reduces the amount of volatile oils present, making the substrate safe for use with reptiles and other small animals. Furthermore, Exo Terra Forest Bark is extensively tumbled to reduce sharp edges and remove dust, and the heat-treating process reduces bacterial contamination.

Instructions for Use:

Spread at least 2" of the bark on the terrarium floor. Water or mist the substrate according to the humidity level required.

Use an Exo Terra Hygrometer to monitor humidity levels. Spot clean the bedding on a daily basis, rinse the substrate in hot water for intermediate cleaning, and completely replace with new bedding every 8 weeks or when necessary.
