Addiction: A Tug of War explains what addiction is all about, how it's being handled, what God wants to do, and how the Church fits in! Addiction is recognized as a war that has pulled people far from what God wants them to be and lures them to actions that are destroying their lives as well as others. Addiction is one of the greatest threats to national security because it ignores God! Addiction: A Tug of War is first about the way that addiction takes over lives through its attractiveness. When addiction takes over then its is given precedence through a practice that can be otherwise described as worship. Every addiction has a sense of awe that should be given to God alone! The way that addiction is handled is a tug of war within a tug of war. While I and my cohorts strive to pull people from the self-centered life of addiction to a Christ-centered life, others are trying to pull people from the self-centered life of addiction to a self-centered one without addiction! They have no regard for the Scriptures and use phrases that are unbiblical and yet widely accepted by the masses (including the Church.) In Addiction: A Tug of War, you will discover what God does about addiction. The war is against our souls and God is working to condition us from being dragged over the line by the strength that is found in Christ. God doesn't want us to recover, He wants more! Christ said that if anyone would follow Him they would have to deny themselves and take up their cross daily (Luke 9:23). That’s a far cry from resolving addiction by learning to love yourself (as erroneously spoken.) God has a place for the Church in this tug of war. The Church was once on the frontline in the war of addiction. Loving Jesus means that we want Him to rule over our lives and in the lives of those who are controlled by addiction. It is an insult to God if we said that He hasn't given the Church all that she needs to confront addictions without any outside help! I believe that if people do not address the spiritual issues of addiction (from the very start) then they will always lack the level of sobriety that is necessary for becoming whole Addiction: A Tug of War explains how most people understand more about addiction than they realize and how most people don't understand as much about addiction as they realize. It's time for the Church to take her rightful place in what she was created for (rescuing souls) and for what only she can do (lead people to Christ, who alone is the Bread of life and is most worthy of our affections.) Addiction: A Tug of War is about how the war on addiction has been given to the Church. The Church has always been equipped to handle addiction (and even more with the most recent aids.) The only answer to addiction that is approved by God is for Him to make us more like Christ!Much of Addiction: A Tug of War is about how God is not reverenced in our addictions and in most cases the way that they are handled. Love and reverence for God is the ultimate answer to addiction. Only God-fearing men and women are fit to properly minister to those who need help with idolatrous addictions that not only draw them from loving God but others as well. Read more
